Craftsman Series 100 and Series 200 openers (e.g. model R-200.57933) use non-Chamberlain technology and are not compatible with standard LiftMaster/Chamberlain accessories. The following remote controls and wireless keypads work with most other Craftsman openers (Chamberlain-made Sears Craftsman models) and meet the stated compatibility criteria. Each product lists supported model ranges or technologies (often identified by the opener’s “Learn” button color or frequency) and a reliable purchase source.

LiftMaster 893MAX – 3-Button Visor Remote:

A universal LiftMaster remote that works with all Chamberlain/LiftMaster-made openers since 1993, including Sears Craftsman models with green, red/orange, purple, or yellow Learn buttons. It supports 390 MHz “Billion Code”Security+ (390 MHz & 315 MHz), and Security+ 2.0 rolling code systems. (In practice this covers Craftsman units with Security+ or myQ tech; ensure the opener has safety sensors if it’s a 1993–mid-90s model.) Not compatible with Craftsman Series 100 or R-200 series openers. Purchase: LiftMaster Official – 893MAX Remote.

Chamberlain G953EV-P2 – 3-Button Remote:

Chamberlain’s branded 3-button visor remote (retail package) that is functionally equivalent to the 893MAX above. It is compatible with nearly every Chamberlain, LiftMaster, and Craftsman garage door opener made since 1993 (Learn button green, orange/red, purple, or yellow). Like the LiftMaster version, it works with Billion Code, Security+ 390/315, and Security+ 2.0 systems. Manufacturers note it’s intended for units 1993+ with photoelectric sensors and explicitly excludes Craftsman Series 100 models. Purchase: Chamberlain Official – G953EV-P2 Remote.

Genie Universal Remote (Model ACSCTG-UNIV2, 2-Button):

A well-regarded third-party universal remote by Genie that can control up to two garage doors. It is compatible with “most major” rolling-code opener brands, including LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Craftsman (as well as Genie’s own, Overhead Door, Sommer, Wayne Dalton, etc.). Each button is programmable, so one remote can operate different-brand doors if needed. This remote supports the common Chamberlain/Craftsman codes and frequencies used from the mid-90s onward (Security+ and newer). (Note: It will not work with the proprietary Series 100/200 Craftsman units, but will work with the vast majority of Craftsman openers that use standard Chamberlain technologies.) Purchase: Genie Company – Universal Remote (ACSCTG-UNIV2).

LiftMaster 878MAX – Wireless Keyless Entry:

A universal outdoor keypad from LiftMaster that mounts by your garage door. The 878MAX is compatible with all LiftMaster, Chamberlain, and Sears Craftsman garage door openers made from 1993 to present (with functioning photo-eye sensors). It works with openers having green, red/orange, purple, or yellow Learn buttons (covers 390 MHz “Billion Code,” Security+, and Security+ 2.0 rolling codes). This keypad allows you to open/close the door via a 4-digit PIN and supports features like one-button-to-close (on openers 2006+). Note: Like the remotes, it will not work with Craftsman Series 100 or R-200 (Series 200) models that aren’t on Chamberlain technology. Purchase: LiftMaster Official – 878MAX Keypad.

Chamberlain G940EV-P2 – Wireless Keypad:

Chamberlain’s universal wireless entry pad (also sold under Craftsman/LiftMaster branding in some cases). It is compatible with nearly every Chamberlain, LiftMaster, and Craftsman opener in North America – supporting units manufactured after 1993 that have safety sensors. The keypad recognizes the same learn-button colors (green, orange/red, purple, yellow) and code systems (390 MHz/315 MHz Security+ and Security+ 2.0) as the LiftMaster 878MAX. It features a flip-up weather cover and backlit keys. Important: Chamberlain notes this keypad is not compatible with Craftsman Series 200 openers (and by extension not Series 100 either), since those are the outliers. Purchase: Chamberlain Official – G940EV-P2 Keypad.

myQ Smart Garage Video Keypad (Model VKP1-MYQ):

A newer myQ-branded smart keypad that includes an integrated Wi-Fi camera for video monitoring. The myQ Video Keypad is designed for Chamberlain’s ecosystem and is compatible with LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Craftsman, Raynor, and AccessMaster garage door openers manufactured after 1993. It functions as a wireless keypad (one PIN can control a single door) just like the above entries – supporting the same rolling-code technologies (Security+ and Security+ 2.0 across the common frequencies) – while also connecting to your home Wi-Fi for video streaming and app features. (For older openers that are not inherently myQ-compatible, you can add a myQ Smart Garage Hub to bridge compatibility.) This device is ideal if you want a keypad and a security camera in one. Purchase: Chamberlain myQ Official – Smart Garage Video Keypad.

Genie Universal Wireless Keypad (Model GUK-BX):

A reputable third-party universal keyless entry pad by Genie. This keypad works with nearly all major garage door brands, including Genie, Chamberlain/LiftMaster, Craftsman, Ryobi, Marantec, Wayne Dalton, and more. It can control up to three different openers via unique PINs, making it a flexible choice for multi-door setups. The Genie keypad supports both rolling code and older fixed/DIP code systems on units manufactured since 1993 (provided the opener has safety sensors). This means it will operate the vast majority of Craftsman openers (Security+ and later, as well as any late-model DIP code units with sensors), but not the incompatible Series 100/200 models. Features include backlit keys, a flip-up weather cover, and temporary PIN support for visitors. Purchase: Genie Official – Universal Wireless Keypad (GUK-BX).

Each of the above accessories can typically be purchased through the manufacturer’s official store or through reputable retailers (e.g. Amazon, Home Depot, Lowe’s). Using the learn-button color on your Craftsman opener is an easy way to confirm compatibility – for Craftsman units not in Series 100/200, a yellow, purple, red/orange, or green learn button indicates that the remotes/keypads listed here will be compatible. All listed products are from established brands and should include programming instructions to sync with your Craftsman opener’s receiver.
